RYAN HORSES 2010 SEASON PREVIEW
Greenspeed pilot ready for assault on BSRKC shifter championship; also plans to compete in KZ1 World Cup in Portugal
Stouffville, ON - After a roller coaster of a season in 2009 that saw him rebound to earn the vice-championship position in the F125 Shifter class at the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship, Ryan Horses will return to his familiar Greenspeed Karting TonyKart setup to deal with some unfinished business. He will compete in nearly every shifter kart event in Ontario and Quebec, as well as select events including the KZ1 World Cup in Braga, Portugal, the SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas, USA and also plans to battle in select Rotax DD2 events.
To sum it all up, 2010 is going to be a very busy season for the veteran karter Horses, entering his tenth full season of karts, something he is very excited for. "I can't wait for this season to start," states a smiling Horses from his Stouffville home. "I came so close to winning the BSRKC championship last year, and ended up losing out on a tie-breaker, so this year I am fully prepared to take control of the championship early."
Two DNF's to start his 2009 campaign did not fare well into his title chances, but he bounced back with four consecutive podium appearances including a victory at the Flamboro round to tie for the championship, only to lose out on race wins. Horses also had the chance to travel to Quebec to compete in Canada's biggest shifter kart race of the year, the Monaco de Trois Rivieres, with over 20 of North America's best shifter pilots, and just missed the podium crossing in fourth place.
"Three Rivers was great! Easily my favourite event of 2009," continued Horses. "I'm very happy it is part of the new Eastern series (EKCK), and will definitely be back there this year."
Along with the full season of BSRKC action in his ICC powered shifter kart, Horses will compete in the new Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, where events at Mosport and Trois Rivieres are confirmed for the shifter category. He will also travel to Quebec to compete in the Coupe East, a four-race championship that is in part with the Quebec Championships. Highlighting his 2010 campaign, he has plans to compete in the 2010 CIK KZ1 World Championships, being held in Braga, Portugal, where the worlds best will gather to compete for shifter supremacy. Capping off the season, Horses will travel to Las Vegas, USA for the annual SuperKarts USA! SuperNationals, an event that is quickly becoming the most anticipated karting event in the world.
"I want to thank Mike Roth for helping me make the right connections to race in Europe," explains Horses. "I have wanted to race in Europe for a long time now, and this year it is finally going to happen. Although I don't know what I am more excited about, as the (SKUSA) SuperNats is also going to be amazing this year!"
Ryans Horses begins quite possibly his busiest year of racing, since he started in 1995. After making the transition into formula cars in the late 90's, he put his racing on hold in 2001 and successfully returned to karts in 2007, consistently up front in whatever he competed in. 2010 will be his tenth full time season in motorsports.
