Robert Wickens takes to Valencia circuit for two day test

VALENCIA, SPAIN Etobicoke's Robert Wickens has had a busy week. Last Sunday, he and brother Trevor left for Valencia Spain to be part of the Formula BMW licensing course at the Formula BMW test center. Wickens, who had never driven a formula style car was ecstatic about the experience.

"It was a real eye opener," Wickens said. "The car was great, the track was great and I met a lot of new people. Just being in Europe was cool."

Wickens was fast out of the box and had high praise for the entry level racer from BMW. "The car has an amazing level of grip, and it has good power. It was great to drive a car like this. I hope I will get a chance to come back and vie for the 2005 Formula BMW Junior scholarship.

Trevor Wickens was happy with his younger brother's performance. "Robbie was quick on my unofficial watch. I had him quickest or second quickest most of the sessions."

After a long two days, Wickens now has an idea of what a full fledged formula style car is like. "This is really the type of car I want to race. It just responds so well just a fantastic car to drive."
