Six drive to multiple wins at Kershaw Pavement national

06.29.2010 - Extremely hot temperatures greeted the Vega Speedway Pavement Series to Carolina Motorsports Park last weekend for the inaugural running of the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Nationals at Carolina's new asphalt tri-oval.

Six Speedway Pavement racers visited victory lane more than once. Anthony Mooneyham led all comers with a sweep of the Briggs Lite, Medium and Heavy divisions, the first to accomplish that feat in several seasons. Mooneyham won over Tyler Gauthier in Lite, Hank Branham in Medium and Kyle Long in Heavy.

Five drivers found victory lane twice. The Robertson brothers continued their success on the Pavement tour. Patrick Robertson won Briggs Jr Champ Lite and Jr Champ Heavy, finishing ahead of Zack Switzer in both affairs. Switzer would go on to win Briggs Jr Champ Raptor Final 1 over Patrick on Sunday. Nick Wiery won Briggs Jr Champ Raptor Final 1 on Saturday.

Tyler Robertson was victorious in Briggs Champ Lite and Champ Heavy, which were two of the best-attended divisions of the weekend. Tyler bested James Hayden in both mains.

David Schilling entered six divisions at Kershaw and won two of them. Schilling got his wins in Briggs Jr Lite and Jr Heavy.

Brandon McGough won his first national races as a Sportsman 2 competitor. The Pennsylvania driver wheeled his kart to victory in Briggs Sportsman 2 Lite and Briggs Sportsman 2 Champ Heavy.

Brayden Houpt swept the Sportsman 1 Champ classes. Houpt beat out Stephen Ford in Briggs Sportsman 1 Champ Lite and bested Kenneth Morin Jr. in Briggs Sportsman 1 Champ Heavy.

Single class winners at Kershaw were Aaron Weed in Briggs Sportsman 1 Lite; Cole Branham in Briggs Sportsman 1 Heavy; John Hawley in Briggs Sportsman 2 Champ Lite; Matt Pappa in Briggs Sportsman 2 Heavy; David Hardman in Briggs Masters Champ Final 1; David Mumaw in Briggs Masters Champ Final 2, and Wiery and Switzer in the aforementioned Jr Champ Raptor classes.
