Nelson Piquet Jr. will go head to head with Rubens Barrichello this week in the Sofina Foods Florida Winter Tour Presented by Fikse Wheels.
The Brazilian duo will hit Homestead Karting facility on the grounds of Homestead-Miami Speedway starting January 14, in the opening round of the 2016 MAXSpeed Entertainment karting season.
Featuring back-to-back racing weekends, ROK Cup USA drivers will take to the track January 14-17 with Rotax MAX Challenge action to follow January 21-24.
Several other pro drivers and stars in the upper echelons of motorsport are set to contest the Homestead rounds, but Piquet’s presence in the ROK Cup USA and Rotax MAX Challenge weekends in the very same classes as Barrichello (ROK Shifter Senior and Rotax DD2 MAX) will likely garner the headlines.
However, Mercedes DTM driver Robert Wickens is also one of the favorites, and will join the mix of pro drivers in Rotax DD2. Coming off a podium result in the same category at the US Open series finale in November of 2015, Wickens will surely be a frontrunner along with Canadian compatriot and Williams F1 development driver Lance Stroll who has multiple Florida Winter Tour titles to his credit.
European Formula 3 champion Felix Rosenqvist will join Stroll in the Senior MAX division in Homestead.
Live event streaming from the Homestead Karting facility will be available starting Friday of each event weekend at http://bit.ly/1mDVTsQ.
