First Time Wins Continue in Path Valley Karting

Spring Run, PA_ Colton Bear was among the beaming first time winners Saturday in Burris Karting at the Path Valley Speedway Park as he raced to his career first win ahead of a strong field in the Jr. Sportsman I class.

At eight years old, this is his first season of racing, and the Elliottsburg youngster says of his brother Dakota and sister Autumn, "They race too, and they win a lot, and got me started." On this particular Saturday, brother Dakota won his seventh in a row in Jr. Sportsman II, but sister Autumn hit the wall in her Animal class #25 and settled for a fourth place.

Colton will be entering fourth grade this fall at West Perry Elementary. "Mom and Dad" (Brenda and Bryan Bear) are his main sponsors. "I work on my kart in the shop during the week, but Daddy builds all our motors," Colton said.

Among other first time at Path Valley winners were Tyler Smith of Martinsburg in Four-Wheeler Two-Stroke, and Codie Rohrbaugh of Austin WV in Caged Rookies. The highly competitive Kids Karts win went to Ryan Forsythe.

Ethan Beasom of Mifflintown won his second of the season in the Jr. Restricted class and third overall, and he explained the allure of the Path Valley Burris Racing. "You can go anywhere if you can race here. A bigger track is harder, but you learn more," he said.

Burris kart and four-wheeler racing continues Saturday, July 31, with gates open at 10 a.m. and racing by noon.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track is 717-349-7111.
