Ciucci, Claar and Weyandt Win Fall Nationals at Path Valley
Spring Run, PA_ Missy Ciucci of Greencastle, who was the Path Valley Speedway Park champion in the medium karts last year, walked away with $300 for her win in the lites kart class Saturday at the Path Valley Fall Nationals.
Chris Claar of Claysburg won the $300 first place prize money in the heavy class and Brandon Weyandt of Bedford won in the medium class. The Fall Nationals for the adult kart classes paid $100 for second place and $50 for third.
In other regular weekly action cousins Keith Gillam and Nicole Eaton of Mill Creek added icing to their season championships with wins in the Jr. Champ and Sr. Champ classes, respectively. Austin Hogue of Lancaster won in both the Jr. Sportsman I and Jr. Sportsman II features and Amber Lyter beat points leaders Travis Wagner and Any Burkholder in the Jr. Restricted feature.
The points season has ended for karts and four-wheelers and they will race for the fun of it for two more Saturdays on the smooth Path Valley quarter mile.
Points races for the Saturday night sprints continue until Sept. 22 because several classes were late getting started and that is the date for the final karts and four-wheeler race. The track races until the middle of October and the season climaxes with the Four-Cylinder Shootout for $1000 to win on Sept. 29.
The Second Annual Path Valley Speedway Park Combined Awards Banquet will be Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Pleasant Hall Fire Co. with doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are limited to 400 and available from the track on a first-come first-sold basis."Dodies" will cater the meal and the entertainment will be DJ Phantom Shadow.
The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike off Route 75.
