Path Valley karters heat up for Spring National.

Spring Run, PA_ Good fields Saturday in the Burris lite, medium and heavy classes signal to Promoter Ken Geesey a big turnout next Saturday for the $300 to win Spring National at Path Valley Speedway Park.

"With serious money at stake in the three senior divisions next Saturday, we had some really fierce competition today as our regular Saturday racers got ready," Geesey said. Registration forms for the May 11 Spring Nationals are available on the track's website at www.pathvalley.com.

Past champion Shawn Claar of Osterburg put on a notable performance with wins in both the heavy and extra-heavy classes, and Tim Berkheimer of Shippensburg on his #50 took the wins in both the Lite and Jr. Stock classes. Dane Delancey of Port Royal and Cory Burham of Shippensburg on their quads won comfortable four-wheeler features.

Rules based on PDKA standards apply and the weight limits for the Spring Nationals are 305 pounds for Lites, 335 pounds for medium and 360 pounds for heavy. Riders may register and race in more than one class if they can make weight.

Riders five to seven years old race in kid karts and every rider wins a trophy, plaque or medal. Riders 8 to 15 race in junior classes and those 16 and older race in the senior classes every Saturday at Path Valley with gates open at 10 a.m.

As a Burris SpecTrak, Path Valley awards at least one set of tires each week, sponsored by Burris, and the winner of the weekly pit pass drawing was Gerard McIntyre of New Oxford who rides the #16 in caged rookies. The day's second drawing for a $120 Burris gift certificate went to Dustin Hoffman, #00, of Millerstown. A link to Burris Racing is found on the track's website, along with the kart schedule, rules, results and last season's points standings.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike.
