Spring Run, PA - Greg Miller started sixth in the second Enduro this season Sunday at the Path Valley Speedway Park and tooled to the lead in the first twelve laps. Then he began putting the cars ahead of him a lap or more down.
Miller said he loves racing at Path Valley because the smooth steep banks make it easy to control his big blue number 28. His second win of the season was in 100 laps over a field of 21 cars. Since winning June 11 at Path Valley, he has also finished sixth in a Williams Grove Enduro. He also revealed that he has a famous relative currently racing. His nephew is Jeremy Miller, driver of the #19 super late model on the HAT touring series circuit.
"All I want to race are the Enduro events because they are so much fun," he said.
The top five finishers scored by Joe Zepka of Zepka Harley Davidson in Johnstown were Miller, Jim Smith, Allen Miller, Adam Yetter and Randy Swartz. Following the main event, eight cars ran a mechanic's race and Darrin Williams on Carlisle in his red #5 finished the 25 lap event first.
The Sunday afternoon features were a preview for the five-event Labor Day Weekend that will feature racing Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Friday is a regular five-feature points race.
Next Sunday is the season's third Junk Car Race, with gates open at 10 a.m. and racing at noon. Rules for the minimal cost junk car racers are available at the track and on the website at www.pathvalley.com.
Labor Day Monday will be a no-points afternoon race for all five Friday night divisions and Saturday night 600 Sprints with the Vintage Car club as special guests.
Next Saturday Sept 1 the afternoon karts and evening sprints are off as the AMA Motorcycle Short Track Series takes over with sanctioned races for up to 19 classes of motorcycles and four-wheelers. Gates open at 4 p.m. for the motorcycle races.
The Friday night stock cars and sprints will race every Friday in September, but the final points race toward the season championships is Sept. 7.
