Vincec Scores Strong Result In Stars Opener
"Another great weekend for Mike Vincec and the BIG Racing Team"
Guelph, Ontario -- March 22, 2005. -- 13-year-old up and coming star Mike Vincec, left Oklahoma Motorsports Complex with a top five result and currently sits 2nd in the point standings in the 80cc Junior Stars of Karting East Championship. Vincec, who endured some early weekend trouble, overcame all obstacles to put fourth another strong run at a challenging circuit.
After testing a new powerplant and different chassis settings on Friday Vincec prepared himself for the Saturday morning ten minute qualifying session. Looking to gun for the pole, Vincec found himself stuck in the middle of the pack and would be forced to move forward in the pre-final.
Starting inside row five the young Canadian would begin to advance through the field. With passes coming nearly every lap, Vincec was unable to catch the leaders but was able to secure the sixth place starting position for the final.
"We struggled in qualifying a bit and were not as far forward as we hoped" explained Vincec. "It is tough to gain all those positions back with the strong competition in the Stars series but with the support from SwedeTech Race Engines and the help from the FirstKart.com crew, I still have a chance at victory."
In Sunday's feature event, Vincec kept pace with the lead group as he battled with fellow competitors. Advancing one more position forward secured a top five result for the Canadian pilot. More importantly, Vincec was the second driver from the East to take the checkered and currently sits second in the series championship.
Mike Vincec would like to thank BIG Racing, the FirstKart.com race team, Pilot Race Gear, SwedeTech Race Engines, GoDecalZone.com, Tony, Terry and Mike at First Kart North America and his family for all their continued support.
With both national series underway, (World Karting Association and Stars of Karting) Vincec currently sits 2nd in both championships.
