3rd round of the Open Master
Kevin Lacroix, back in Italy
St-Eustache, Quebec, April 15. -- 15 year-old kart driver, Kevin Lacroix from Saint-Eustache, Quebec is heading back to Italy for the third round of the Open Master championship held in Salentina, a karting facility near Ugento in Southern Italy. Back from the second round last week, Lacroix admits the series is a tremendous learning curve for him, since he is racing with older drivers in a very competitive class. However, like he did many times so far in his career, Kevin promises to step up against the opposition and make his presence felt.
"I've always had to race against older and more experienced competitors, claims Kevin. This year, I'm entering a new class with new CRG material and a new crew in Europe. So, I have to concentrate and get the best out of it the moment as soon as we hit the track. This is the ideal situation for a guy like me who wants to be ready for the upcoming Stars of Tomorrow championship in North America. "
Last round was OK
Back in Lonato for the second round two weeks ago, Lacroix was denied the final race on Sunday. His qualifying time was good enough but tied with another racer. According to ruling, the other driver went directly to the final while Kevin had to enter the final chance race. In that race, he had to drop out of competition when he lost the nose of his machine after a competitor made contact with him.
Kevin enjoyed working for three days with the official CRG crew from Holland and tackle such competition in a country where karting is so significant. He understands that only this kind of competitiveness will raise his skills. The situation has been the same these last years and he has always answered back with panache. So he walks in Salentina with humbleness, optimism and determination.
