Harvey Charges Back Into Form At Home Venue
Bassingham kart racer Jack Harvey found form again this weekend (April 2/3/4), when he picked up a sixth place finish in the latest round of the MSA Super One Championship at PF International circuit at Fulbeck.
The Allens Group backed youngster lined up fifth on the grid for the final in his Fusion Motorsport machine, after staying at the sharp end of the timesheets all weekend. After the disappointment of the opening round, where he suffered from handling problems, Harvey was pleased to be back at the front of the field.
A demon start saw him reach the first hairpin in second place. However, the following competitor left his braking far too late and punted Jack off the track and down the order to 20th.
A stunning drive saw the reigning WTP Champion climb back up to sixth place before crossing the line. Although frustrated at having to climb from the back of the field, he was happy with the pace and performance from himself and the team.
"I'm happy with the way the weekend went really," he said. "The result is a lot better than the opening round. It is frustrating, though, as the guy who was leading got away from the rest of the field and if I had been able to go with him I could have challenged for the lead in the closing laps.
"At least we now have the problems with the kart sorted and the whole team and weekend was a step forward for the season," he added.
Jack will have no time to relax before stepping back into competition as he enters his second high profile championship next weekend, the Stars of Tomorrow series, at the Rowrah track.
"I'm really looking forward to next weekend. We should go well there as we have picked up some very good results recently in some club meetings and hopefully we can carry that across to the bigger championships," said Jack.
He will take to the track on Friday for the testing and practice before the final on Sunday afternoon (April 9/10/11).
