G-PHACTORY STARS OF KARTING MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK PREVIEW
G-Phactory Stars of Karting Miller Motorsports Park PreviewJ April 25, 2008 (Huntington Beach, Calif.) -- The G-Phactory / Sodi Racing USA team is headed north from its Southern California base to Miller Motorsports Park for the first Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the Indy Racing League Western Division round of 2008.
It has been a busy month for the team. After the opener of the Stars of Karting season at Ocala Grand Prix less than three weeks ago, the team staff traveled to France to visit the Sodi Kart factory. While there, Adam and Andrick Zeen competed in the FFSA Grand Prix at Salbris, France in the KF2 class. After traveling across the Atlantic, they were still struck with rain throughout the event. The entire team is no doubt looking forward to drier weather in Utah.
The Eastern Division's opener at Ocala Grand Prix left both of the team's ICC drivers, Nick Halen and Ryan Yop, with no points after the rain played havoc with their kart engines. Both will be back in full force, and with this being the closest thing to a home track that Halen will have this year -- Halen is from Reno, Nev. -- it was no surprise that he was pounding the pavement last week, putting in some pre-event testing at Miller.
The track is the home base of Michael Self, one of the quartet of G-Phactory's TaG drivers. Pat Iannucci, Adam Zeen, and Andrick Zeen will also be back on track after a strong showing in Ocala, where all drivers showed the speed to run at the front and Iannucci nearly put a silver kart onto the podium after what was a very soggy weekend.
The team's lone JICA driver, Thomas Micich, travels to Miller Motorsports Park having competed at this event last year in the Cadet class. He was a DNF in Ocala after a spin in the rain, but looks to make a move further to the front this weekend.
The G-Phactory / Sodi Racing USA team hits the track for practice on Friday.
