Snap-on Stars of Karting Announces 2009 Stars Junior National Class

Over the next week, the Snap-on Stars of Karting Series will be releasing their 2009 national championship class structure one by one. Beginning with the Cadet division, Stars of Karting will release class information and rule changes that pertain to those classes. Any person, driver or team with questions in regards to the '09 class structure is asked to contact Stars of Karting via e-mail to Media@StarsOfKarting.com

With the changing economy and looking to work with teams and drivers to satisfy their needs, the Snap-on Stars of Karting Series has announced the addition of the Stars Junior National (formerly known as TaG Junior) class in the 2009 national championship.

The age for the Stars Junior National category shall be 12 to 15 years of age only. A driver's actual age as of December 20, 2008 shall establish his/her "competition age" for the 2009 competition year. Drivers under the required minimum age for a category may start the 2009 competition year provided they have met the age requirement for the category they are participating in on or before July 1, 2009.

Some technical regulations for the Stars Junior National class are as follows with a full rules package forthcoming:

* Stars Junior National will utilize the pre 2009 Parilla Leopard motor
* Stars Junior National will be run at 330 Lbs
* Stars Junior National will utilize 4.50 / 7.10 Bridgestone YHC
* Stars Junior National will have a maximum rear width of 140cm (55 1/8").
* Stars Junior National will utilize full width CIK approved rear bumpers

Drivers wishing to advance to a more senior category representing the next higher age requirement from their current category may do so provided they have met the age requirement for the next higher category on or before July 1, 2009. If a driver's birthday occurs after July 1, 2009, they may advance to the next higher age requirement, on or after their birthday that qualifies them to advance to the next higher age requirement.

Once a driver advances to and competes in the next higher age category in any verifiable National karting competition series, tour or race, at any level, from January 1, 2009 through October 31, 2009, he/she must continue to compete at that age category in Snap-on Stars of Karting competition, and may no longer compete at the lower age category under pain of penalty.

Drivers competing in the Stars Junior National category will also be permitted to compete in other junior level categories with the age restrictions of 12 - 15 years old in 2009 Stars of Karting competition.

The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series will continue to announce their 2009 class structure in the coming week.
