In Victory Lane At Greenwood Valley
September 8, 2001
Eight time Micro Sprint Feature Winner, Jeff Furlong, started Saturday night's Feature in second place but didn't stay there for long, taking the lead as the green flag waved. The Selinsgrove resident wasn't seriously challenged and took his ninth checkered flag. Chasing Furlong across the line at The Greenwood Valley Action Track was Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, followed by Bloomsburg resident, Eric Heydenreich. In fourth spot was Nyle Berkes, a teacher from Berwick, while Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, was fifth and David Utt, Catawissa, was sixth. Scott Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, was seventh, Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos, eighth, Sean Good, Middleburg, ninth, and Shane Penny, Nescopeck captured the tenth spot.
Another multiple winner in the 2001 Season claimed the victory in the Sportsman Micro Sprint Feature. Colby Womer took first place for the tenth time, followed by Shane Penny, doing double duty again at The Action Track. Hoss Uhrin, Freeland, took third, Rick Morris, Catawissa, claimed fourth. Fifth place went to Glen Walp, Wapwallopen, and sixth to Ken Herr, Palmyra. The final two finishers were Steve Price, Danville, and Kevin Faus, Orangeville.
In the Rookie Micro Sprint Feature, excitement was the operative term. With a lot of dodging of lapped traffic and tough passing in the corners, the outcome was determined by the hard driving of young Matt Miller, Sunbury. Taking the second spot was Phil Weinsteiger, Green Lane, third was Greg Spangler, Wapwallopen, and in the fourth spot was Mike Burke, Orwigsburg. The fifth place was taken by Todd Hoover, Mt. Pleasant Mills, sixth was Chad Thomas, New Berlin, seventh was Jesse Remensnyder, Mocanaqua, and in the eighth spot was Deb Arner, Berwick. Wrapping up the top ten were Jake Starr, Millville, and Jolene Wojciechowicz, Mocanaqua.
The points races are tightening up at The Greenwood Valley Action Track as the season winds down. Bring the family to the finest one-fifth mile oval in the area where the gates open at 2:30, and warm-ups get underway at about 4:30. Next week will feature a full show of Karts and Micros plus a Wingless race at the end of the evening, time permitting. See you at The Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville on route 254; turn right on Oriole Road, and right again on Bottom Road.
