On Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley

Scott Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, has worked all season to find the race set-up which would secure a victory for team owner, Ronny Payne. Saturday night in the Regular Micro Sprint Feature at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, Kishbaugh found the combination and checked-out on the rest of the Feature field, winning from pole to checkered flag. Trying to catch Kishbaugh was Bloomsburg's Neil Petock, who had to spend most of his time holding off third place finisher, Brad McClelland, Westminster, MD, instead of catching the hooked-up Kishbaugh. Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, captured fourth place, Chris Smith, Bloomsburg, fifth, and sixth went to Brian Wawroski, also from Bloomsburg. Seventh was Nick Lannan, Montoursville, eighth was Steve Lenig, Selinsgrove, ninth was Joey Finan, Milton, and in tenth place was Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove.

When the checkered flag fell on the Rookie Micro Sprint Feature, it was a first-time win for Jay Horvath of Zion Hill. Horvath's excitement was evident when he made it to Victory Lane, his voice fading from having cheered his success during the victory lap. Phil Weinsteiger, Green Lane, was second, Shane Penny, Nescopeck, was third and Andy Knouse, Mt. Pleasant Mills, was fourth. In the fifth position was Frank Venezia, Little Ferry, NJ, while Lee Benjamin, Berwick, came in sixth and Michael Ruttkamp, Wilton, CT, seventh. Eighth place went to Ross Perchak, Hazelton, ninth to Chad Phillips and tenth place to Ray Peters, Shickshinny.

Next weekend at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville, Thunder and Lightning returns to the 1/5 mile dirt oval. On Friday, September 8, there will be a special non-points races for all of the Micro Sprint and Karts Divisions as well as the crowd pleasing Garden Tractors. Gates will open at 4 and warm-ups roll off at 6:30. Regular prices will be in effect for Friday's action. First and second place finishers in the Regular Micro Sprint Feature will be guaranteed a starting position in Saturday night's big contest

Saturday (September 9) the gates will open at noon and Karts will begin competition at 3:30. All regularly scheduled Divisions will run Saturday in addition to a non-qualifiers race for those not making the feature. The entrance fee for Thunder and Lightning is $65. Pit and spectator fees will be increased for the event. "Bonus Bucks" sponsored by Commercial Stainless, will be paid, along with other lap and contingency money.
