Battling wheel-to-wheel, Blane Heimbach, Selinsgrove, drove the race of his career at The Greenwood Valley Action Track in Saturday night's Micro Sprint Feature to take home the first prize. Heimbach battled for second with Neil Petock, a Bloomsburg native, until Petock got loose and spun coming off turn 4. Heimbach then went after pole sitter, Denny Rinehimer, Bloomsburg, passing him with less than a lap to go and taking the checkered flag for the win. Following Heimbach and Rinehimer, in the third place, was last year's Action Track Points Champion, Joe Bednarski, Wyoming. Fourth was taken by Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, fifth by Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove, and sixth by Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills. David Utt, Catawissa was seventh and Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos, eighth with Scott May and Steve Lenig, Selinsgrove, finishing ninth and tenth.
In The Action Track's Rookie Micro Sprint Feature, Chad Thomas, New Berlin, captured the winning spot while fending off second place finalist, Brett Arndt, Topton, and Ross Perchak, Hazelton. Lee Benjamin, Berwick, was fourth, Michael Ruttkamp, Wilton, CT, finished fifth, and Dillon Stein, Auburn was sixth. A.J. Bast, Tower City, came in seventh, K.C. Smith, Reading, was eighth. With an unusually high attrition rate taking cars out of competition and back to the pits, the final machine still running was ninth place finisher, the # 00, driven by Bill Puterbach, Millville.
The points races are still tight and heating up at The Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of route 254, so bring the family for racing and a good meal from the snack bars. Gates open Saturday at 3, warm-ups at 5:30, and racing gets under way at 6. See you at The Action Track.
