Blane Heimbach has done it again at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, leading from his pole position until the checked flag fell in the Micro Sprint Feature. Heimbach, who helps on the family farm near Selinsgrove during the week, is a weekend hotshoe at The Action Track, holding off the persistent challenge of second place finisher, Colby Womer of Mt. Pleasant Mills, while maneuvering through lapped traffic. Jeff Furlong, also from Selinsgrove, claimed third, and five-time Action Track Feature winner, Joe Bednarski, Wyoming, grabbed fourth. Fifth, sixth, and seventh went to Bloomsburg residents, Neil Petock, Eric Heydenreich, and Nyle Berkes. Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, Jake Park, Rome, PA, and Steve Lenig, Selinsgrove rounded out the top ten.
As is often the case with the Rookie Micro Sprint division, chaos reigned, or perhaps rained! Emerging in first place in the storm of spins, rolls, and crashes came Mike Keppler. Along with several top five finishes this season, Keppler's win in the challenging Rookie Feature should add to his confidence that he can come home first again. Scott Lawrence, who drives to the The Action Track from Conklin, NY, placed second, Chad Thomas, New Berlin was third, and Glen Walp of Wapwallopen managed a fourth. Next was Scott Tate, Middleburg, and Gary Slusser, Bloomsburg, followed by John Roberts who hails from Millville. The final car running at the end of the maelstrom was driven by Joe Remaly of Millville.
July 3rd will be the day for the 10th annual "Firecracker 500" paying $500 to win. Drivers can save on the entrance fee by registering early for the event. Anyone wanting to add to the price and merchandise cache in the Feature is invited to contact track officials.
Congratulations to Gerry and Cindy Creveling, whose daughter and stalwart staff member, Tiffany, wed Ryan Keifer on Friday evening.
