The Greenwood Valley Action Track, Millville, is back in action! After two weeks of weather related postponements, Bug Day and the first points race of the season were combined for a long and exciting day of action on Saturday. Rainouts at several area speedways brought many non-regulars to participate with The Greenwood Valley Crew for the top honors in Micro Sprints, Karts, Slingshots and Garden Tractors. In Regular 270cc Micro Sprints, Denny Rinehimer, Bloomsburg, held off a hard charge by Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, for the top trophy, both drivers are GVAT Regulars along with most of the top ten. In third place was Eric Heydenreich, Bloomsburg, fourth was Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, fifth, Jason Harmon, Berwick and sixth was Jake Starr, Millville. Seventh through tenth place went to Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos; Ross Perchak, Hazelton; Nick Wean, Milford, NJ and Ray Peters, Shickshinny.
The 250 Sportsman Micro Sprints are back and so is Colby Womer who captured the top spot with Gene Lewis in close second. Rod Faus, Millville picked up the third position, Kirk Miller was fourth and Jim Reese, Bloomsburg, came in fifth. The final two spots went to Greg Steward, Bloomsburg, and Tom Faus, Millville.
In Rookie Micro Sprint action Jay Hartman, a New Jersey native, took the top trophy with Nick Schlauch, Churchville, in the second position. In the third spot was Brian Zanoline, in fourth was Terry Schane, Hamlin, fifth was Ryan Osborne, Milford, NJ, and Nate Snyder came in sixth. Tammy Schane, Hamlin, picked up seventh place, John Allegrucci, Jermyn, eighth, Bob Azarowicz, ninth and in the tenth spot was Jared Schall, Hackettstown, NJ.
Keith Tucker, a New Jersey resident, picked up top honors in the Slingshot division, Jim Johnston was second, Dale Kober third and Brett Smith was fourth. Matt Ritter, Jilly Long and John Evancho, Freeland, rounded out the field.
The Greenwood Valley Action Track is located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of route 254. Gates open at 3:00, warm-ups start at 5 and racing for Karts, Micros, Garden Tractors and visiting classes race into the night. A great family outing that happens every week at Greenwood Valley.
