From Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley . . . . by Than Mitchell
Starting from the pole gives a driver an initial advantage, but for Jeff Furlong, it makes him nearly unbeatable. Again, at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, the Selinsgrove resident took the Micro Sprint Feature win, starting from the inside of row number one and leading all the way. Several late cautions allowed Furlong to run ahead of traffic where the PMP chassis seemed to work best. Second, in the strong field, was Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, while third place was closely contended by Joe Bednarski, Wyoming. In fourth place was Neil "the Wheel" Petock, Bloomsburg, fifth, Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, and sixth place was taken by Eric Heydenreich, Bloomsburg. Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos, was seventh, Steve Lenig, Selinsgrove, managed eighth, while newcomer Joe Fink was ninth and Kevin Nolf, Bloomsburg, came in tenth.
Brian Wawroski, Bloomsburg, wore out his welcome in the Rookie Micro Sprint Division. Winning Saturday night's Rookie Feature, win number four of the 2000 Season, requires Wawroski to move into the Micro Sprint ranks. Scott Tate, part of the Snyder County Posse, was second, while Brent Arndt, Topton, managed a third place finish and Chad Thomas, New Berlin, was fourth. Jay Horvath led Shane Penny, Nescopeck, over the line, followed by seventh place finisher Joel Thomas, Bloomsburg, K.C. Smith, Reading, Dave Williams and Brit Rider, Millville.
Added attractions for the large crowd of spectators were a field of nine garden tractors, a fast growing and unusual new racing phenomena, an all women micro race, and races featuring the mechanics and pit crew members driving their team's cars.
Join us next Saturday night for another evening of dirt track excitement at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville, just off route 254, a great place for wholesome family fun. See you at the races.
