On Victory Lane At Greenwood Valley
July 6, 2002
Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, has little to say when he is interviewed on Victory Lane at The Greenwood Valley Action Track beyond the acknowledgment of his helpers in the shop. Brian proved that he does most of his talking on the dirt oval. In the earlier Sportsman Micro Sprint Feature, Kishbaugh took the first, then came back to score a solid win in the 13th Annual Firecracker 500, paying a purse of $800. The Firecracker 500 for 270cc Micro Sprints, consisting of two 20 lap segments with a ten minute break in the middle, was full of spins and mechanical failures. Following Kishbaugh throughout the race and across the finish line was Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, who tried every trick in the book to pass, but could not get it done. Third was Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove, fourth, Joe Bednarski, Plymouth, and fifth was Ross Perchak, Hazelton. In the sixth spot was Shane Penny, Berwick, driving the # 4 of Neil Petock who was sitting this event out, while in seventh it was Jason Rice, New Tripoli, eighth was Skeetz Hockenbrock, Paxinos, ninth Denny Rinehimer, Bloomsburg, and tenth was Brian Marriott, Harrisburg.
Brian Kishbaugh picked up first place in the Sportsman 250cc Division as he swept the evening at The Action Track. In the second spot was Chad Thomas, New Berlin, while Rick Morris, Catawissa, was third. In the fourth position was taken by Hoss Uhrin, Freeland, fifth was Jim Reese, Bloomsburg, sixth place went to Craig Fox, Bloomsburg, and finally in the line was Rick Rubenstein, also of Bloomsburg.
In the Rookie Micro Sprint Feature A.J. Bast, Tower City, was first, Jason Harman, Nescopeck, second and Larry Sauers, Allenwood, was third. Fourth went to Deb Arner, Berwick, fifth to Joel Thomas, Bloomsburg, sixth place was taken by Terry Schane, Hamlin, and the seventh and eighth places were taken by the Allegrucci's of Jermyn, John and Nunzio. The final two in the top ten were Ryan Pitt, Lebanon, and Tammy Schane, Hamlin.
In the Slingshot contest Jim Johnston started on the pole and finished first, while Ryan Smith and Brett Smith took second and third places. The rest of the top ten were Roger Collins, Matt Kropft, Ryan Osborne, Dale Kober, Kyle Lynch, Whitney Heydenreich and Colin McConnell.
There will be a full schedule of events next Saturday night at The Greenwood Valley Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of route 254. Gates open at 3, warm-ups begin at 4:30. See you at The Action Track.
