The first points night at The Greenwood Valley Action Track was perfect for snowmobile racing, but not ideal for the Karts, Slingshots and Micro Sprints. The heavy snow flurries stopped at about driver's meeting time and then it started to get cold, dropping to 23 degrees by evening's end. The clay surface turned to ice, and the Regular 270cc Micro Sprint Feature race was postponed until next week in the name of safety.

Earlier in the evening in the 250cc Sportsman Feature contest it was Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills in the top position from green to checkered. In the second spot was Jim Reese, Bloomsburg, in third, Rick Morris, Catawissa. Hoss Uhrin, Freeland came in fourth and Jake Starr, Millville, was the fifth car across the line in a small field of cars.

In Rookie Micro Sprint action Larry Sauer won his first ever race causing him to forget the cold weather. In the second spot was Sean Stolz, Bloomsburg, Joe Hogan, Plymouth, was third and Jake Starr, Millville, was fourth. It was Deb Arner, Berwick, in the fifth place, Matt Miller, Sunbury, sixth, Bob Azarowicz, Tunkhannock, seventh. The final two spots were held by Ryan Pitt and Rick Rubenstein, Bloomsburg.

Fourteen Slingshot machines started the main event at Greenwood Valley with Brett Smith, from the Delaware Water Gap, controlling the field at the finish line. Ryan Taylor, Perkaski, was close behind in second, while Brian Wawroski, Bloomsburg, was third, Larry Eck, fourth, while Charlie Bodine was fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Jeff Bodine, Brett Bordner, Steve Weirich, and Dave Brozina.

It will be warmer at The Action Track next Saturday afternoon so join your friends and family to watch great wheel - to-- wheel racing, wonderful food in the two snack bars, and a family atmosphere. The Greenwood Valley Action Track is located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville just south of route 254. The season has begun....See you at The Action Track.
