SAN YVES MOTORSPORTS: MOROSO REVIEW
"Drivers look forward to Ocala in March"
Jupiter, Florida -- February 19, 2008 -- With a tent full of S-1 Maranello pilots, San Yves Motorsports drivers fair well at the Moroso Motorsports Park facility as they look to get on track for future success in 2008. Claiming victories were Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) pilot Nick Neri and Cadet standout Santino Ferrucci while other strong runs were put forward by team drivers.
In JICA, Neck Neri went on to claim Saturday's victory before having to start from the tail of the field on Sunday to come home second. San Yves teammate CJ Cronis was looking at his best weekend to date at the Florida Winter Tour as he paced the field for the fourth quickest time in Friday's timed practice sessions but that came to an abrupt end on Saturday. Cronis was involved in a major incident at the end of the long Moroso back straight that sent him flipping into the tires. The result was a broken shoulder and foot but Cronis does hope to be back in a kart for the final round in Ocala.
Bristol Gunderson had another exciting weekend as the young pilot continues to learn. After qualifying 18th on Saturday, Gunderson was running inside the top fifteen before a mechanical failure took her out of contention. Sunday would prove to be much better for Gunderson as she progressed from her 25th qualifying position to come home a solid 16th.
JICA teammates Evan Komar and Madeline Komar appeared on the national level for only the second time with this, being their first in a JICA. Both drivers put in their best effort and managed to progress throughout the weekend.
Connecticut Masters Shifter pilot Ed Oberholtzer had a decent weekend by claiming the 8th position in Saturdays racing action. While running and finishing 6th in Sunday's pre-final, Oberholtzer had to miss the feature due to a flight home.
Cadet pilots Carlos Abreu and Jimmy Cabrera had strong weekends with Abreu finishing 4th and 6th in both finals. Abreu currently sits second in the points behind his teammate before heading to the final round at the Ocala Gran Prix facility. Cabrera, in only his second weekend of Cadet action, ran inside the top ten all weekend and will be a threat for victory later in 2008. Cadet standout Santino Ferrucci claimed another double podium as he was able to claim the third position on Saturday and backed that up with a solid victory on Sunday.
Spec Racer pilot Edward Fortier ran strong all weekend in the TaG class despite being underpowered with his Parilla Leopard
