PSL KARTING ADDS THREE MORE PODIUMS TO FLORIDA WINTER TOUR RESULTS

Leesmann gives Canadian CRG importer second victory of '08 with win in Pro Shifter

HOMESTEAD, FL (January 24, 2008) -- PSL Karting wrapped up the first rounds of the Florida Winter Tour with the second leg of the double-weekend event at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Southern Florida with another solid team performance for the 10 drivers running under the Canadian CRG importer's tent. A total of three podium finishes, including one victory, in just two divisions wrapped up PSL Karting's January racing calendar.

A late addition to the PSL Karting tent for the Group B weekend was the West Coast driver Fritz Leesmann, who was making his first appearance at the Tour. Leesmann, just as he was in 2007 on the national scene, was among the fastest drivers all weekend long. Starting off on Saturday by earning the pole position in the stacked Pro Shifter category, Leesmann swept the on-track sessions with Prefinal and Final victories - earning $1,500 for the main event win. Sunday's action saw rain early on with Fritz qualifying fourth in the wet conditions. With a damp track early, Leesman put in an impressive run to get to the lead early and held on as the track began to dry to score the Prefinal victory. Set to start the main event from the pole position, Leesmann pulled in during the warm-up lap with a broken shift lever, ending his chance at a second victory.

Fellow West Coast driver, PCH Motorsports' Jacob Neal, joined PSL Karting for his debut at the Florida Winter Tour, suiting up for only his third time running a CRG/Maxter shifter kart package. After coming two laps short of finishing the main on Saturday (16th place finish), Neal bounced back to score a ninth place result after starting 14th on Sunday.

With a last-minute change from KF2 to Pro Shifter, new PSL Karting pilot Chemill Mercado was impressive in his shifter kart debut. Set to start 15th in Saturday's Final, troubles kept him out of the race. On Sunday, however, Mercado drove from 17th to 11th in the main. Other PSL Karting drivers in Pro Shifter included Corey Rossmann (17th & 13th) and Anthony Llopiz (25th & 17th).

PSL Karting made up nearly half the Masters Shifter lineup with five drivers taking to the track aboard PSL-prepared CRGs, scoring four top-10s both days. Virginia's Gus Vidal scored two podiums, finishing third on Saturday while moving up one spot on Sunday. California's Paul Walker was a consistent, coming in just short of the podium both days, placing fourth. The Lachance brothers returned for a second straight FWT weekend, this time aboard their shifter karts. Martin got the advantage on Saturday with a ninth place to Denis' 11th, while they would swap roles on Sunday with Denis placing sixth to Martin's ninth place finish. Michel Legrand was the fifth driver on the PSL Masters roster, placing eighth on Saturday before recording a DNF in Sunday's Final.

The cap this PSL update, one of the team's newest recruits was in action this past weekend, although not with the squad in Florida. Following a strong outing at the opener FWT Rotax weekend, Rudy Camarillo was in action in Monterey, Mexico, scoring a victory at the first Rotax Max Challenge event of 2008.

Over the next few weeks, PSL Karting team will be testing at the Moroso Motorsports Park karting facility for round two of the Florida Winter Tour, with the Rotax program set to battle on February 8-10 with the shifter karts running on February 15-17.
