Fittipaldi Racing Team achieves great results at the EasyKart Grand National and World Finals
Following the recent announcement of the launch of this exciting new Kart Racing team several of its drivers quickly delivered impressive results on the National and International racing circuits. The Fittipaldi Racing Team competed in different classes at the EasyKart National Grand Finals, held at the Moroso Motorsports Park in Florida on September 10, and at the EasyKart World Finals at the famous Jesolo track, near Venice, in Italy on October 15th.
EasyKart Grand National Finals: Fittipaldi Racing Team scores three podium finishes
In dominating fashion Dion von Moltke won the 125 cc Light feature race, coming from 6th place to secure the victory from some of the best drivers from Brazil, Colombia, Canada and the USA. Pietro Fittipaldi finished an impressive second in the 60cc feature race, and Gabriel Chaves finished third in his very first race since moving up from 60cc to the 100cc class!
EasyKart World Finals: Fittipaldi Racing Team scores two top 10 finishes against the best in the world
Over 240 drivers from 14 countries assembled at Jesolo, Italy for the World Finals of the EasyKart Championship Series. Joining the team for this event was the young Enzo Fittipaldi, the 5 year old grandson of the World Champion Formula One racer Emerson Fittipaldi. Enzo competed in the EasyKart 50 cc class -- and completed the 3 days of demonstration races in fine style, showing that the next generation of drivers will have something special to contend with.
Enzo's brother, 10 year old Pietro Fittipaldi, struggled with an ill handling kart on this very tricky circuit, finishing 4th in the B qualifier, starting the final in 34th position, and finally finishing a very respectable 19th out of the 75 drivers that started in this class. "I had a lot of fun in the final race -- finding lots of places to overtake lots of drivers", joked Pietro after the race.
The very gifted Gabriel Chaves qualified 5th and finished a very respectable 7th in his second race in the 100cc class -- leading the way for all of the drivers from the Americas in this class. Following the race Gabriel reflected on his performance: "I was hoping to finish higher, but coming first of all of the Americas drivers in only my second race in this class was not too bad".
Dion von Moltke had another spectacular race. After qualifying 15th out of the 50 drivers in the 125cc Light category with a poorly performing engine, he stormed through the field in the feature race, finishing in 7th place -- in front of the top drivers from 12 of the countries that participated in this category. He also recorded the 3rd fastest lap time of all of the 34 drivers competing in the feature race. Dion was very happy after the race: "what a blast -- a great track, a great country, a great event -- I had fun coming through the field, battling the whole way with some very tough drivers!".
"I am extremely pleased with the performance of the team since we launched it in September. Enzo, Pietro, Gabriel, and Dion work together exceptionally well, and have shown themselves to be able to deliver results against some of the best drivers in the world", said professional race car driver, team principle, coach, and advisor, Max Papis. "We now go into the 2007 season on an excellent foundation, anticipating another strong showing for the team in the Florida Winter Tour, Stars of Karting, and EasyKart Championship Series. Dion and Gabriel will also compete in open wheel series in 2007".
