"Three teams entered in major event at New Castle"
Brownsburg, IN. -- October 10, 2007 -- Members of the FirstKart.com race team will travel to New Castle Motorsports Park for the 200 mile TaG Endurance Race presented by Mazda, Robopong and Bridgestone. FirstKart.com will enter four solid teams into the event with the hopes of taking the checkers in the prestigious event.
The primary FirstKart.com team will be the junior duo of Spencer Pigot and Phil De La O. Pigot who claimed three pole positions and one victory in Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) at this years Stars of Karting (SoK) Series will join De La O who has garnered several fast lap awards and a strong podium result in Shawano in his rookie JICA year.
The previously announced team of Derek Wagner and Brett Smrz will also be in action as the duo will hit the track Thursday morning in preparation for the event. Wagner enjoyed his premiere outing behind the wheel of a First Kart as he had a solid run at last weekend's World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturers Cup event at New Castle.
Smrz, who lost a portion of his leg earlier in the year, will get back in the seat of kart for the first time since the incident. However, Smrz has been on track in an F1600 and has been making headlines across the country. In his first outing, Smrz claimed a trio of victories at Laguna Seca and proved that he is back and ready to fight for victory.
Another entry for the FirstKart.com race team will be the duo of Tony Loniewski and Chris Larson. Loniewski who raced on the First Kart product line in 2006 is excited about the opportunity to get back in the seat. Larson, who currently races in the Intercontinental A (ICA) division at the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series, will try his hand with a Parilla Leopard TaG package as the duo will look to fight for the victory.
Spec Racer competitors Zach Beard and Adam Johnson will combine for the fourth and final FirstKart.com team. The duo will look to use their TaG experience and knowledge of the Parilla powerplant to challenge for the win.
Pigot, De La O, Wagner and Beard will enjoy zero down time after the event as the quartet will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series finale the following weekend.
