Dale City, VA - American David Nguyen will be making his auto racing debut at the Bridgestone Racing Academy near Toronto, Canada on August 17.

Nguyen has been racing Yamaha go karts in the region since 1996 winning the 1997 Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series. He has been trying to move up to cars since attending the prestigious Jim Russell Racing School in Quebec, Canada in 1998. Presently he leads the Maryland Divisional Kart Series and the Monrovia Club Championship with 5 wins in the first 9 races.

Each day he spends about two hours in the gym, running or biking. Weekends find him practicing and racing. His goal for this year is to win both go kart championships and race in the British Formula Ford Winter Series. Next year he hopes to race in Canada or England, depending on sponsorship.

He is a 1999 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. After one year in industry he left to pursue his dream full time.
