TAYLOR MIINCH CLAIMS TAG SENIOR TITLE AT CKI FLORIDA CUP
"Senior rookie continues to impress"
March 17, 2010 -- Miinch Motorsports driver Taylor Miinch had a strong showing at this past weekend's final round of the Championship Karting International Florida Cup presented by Supertune USA and DeFrancesco Racing. After some strong runs throughout the series, Miinch walked away with the TaG Senior championship after sweeping all of the weekend's official sessions in his P1 Engines powered Top Kart.
"Out TaG program is really performing well," stated Miinch after the event weekend. "We have been fast each and every weekend and have been up front battling for the race wins whenever possible. I think I will be able to have repeat success in the WSK North American Series throughout the summer."
After claiming the pole positions for both Saturday and Sunday's racing action, Miinch went on to claim the prefinal and main event wins both days to put an exclamation point on the title and TaG Senior domination. Miinch was one of the top pilots in the series and was able to take at least one victory in each and every race weekend of action.
Pulling double duty through the entire Florida Cup, Miinch would also do battle in the Rotax Senior class where he would have a rare off weekend. Miinch would show true speed throughout Friday's timed practice sessions and would look to be a strong threat for the overall weekend victory but bad racing luck would hinder any chances. The talented Californian battled with some of the top Rotax pilots and national champions in the country to claim two top ten results and a fourth place result in the overall title chase.
"This weekend we struggled with our Rotax program. At times, we were off on chassis setup and then when we corrected those problems, we would have motor related issues," explained Miinch. "My tuner and the entire Top Kart crew worked very hard, and we felt by the end of the weekend we were back on track with the leaders but on track battles would hinder my chances of moving up in the final results. I think with all the success we have had this season, there comes a time where we will have some difficulties. We just need to work through them and learn for the future, and that is what I think we accomplished this weekend."
