Devin Cunningham wins at Coupe de Montreal opener
Tony Kart driver takes top podium at home track
St-Hilaire, QC - Last week, Quebec karter Devin Cunningham joined SH Karting to contest the Coupe de Montreal and the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels in Rotax Max. On Saturday, Cunningham did his new team proud by taking the pole, pre-final and final win at the home of SH Karting, which hosted round one of the Coupe de Montreal.
"It's such a great pleasure as a driver to drive a kart that's performing so well at my Tony Kart was today. SH Karting have done a great job at getting the Tony Kart ready for the race and we were able to find a near optimum setup for Saturday. The kart would perform right from the start and continually got better throughout the race."
There was also a 'familiarization' exercise going on in the pace laps for the final, which took three tries to get underway. Cunningham was unfazed by the exercise and still went on to win. "It was just a case of the field not being tight enough together and typical front row antics."
With the win, Cunningham has gained some valuable momentum as he heads to Ontario for this weekend's Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship opener at Goodwood, Ontario.
"I'm really looking forward to next week. It's going to be great to drive on a track I have never seen and more drivers I have never raced against. As the year has started on a positive note and the fact there's still more to come from the SH Karting garage and myself as a driver, I'm definitely looking forward to getting a chance to drive with some of the best of North America."
