Cameron Motorsports driver Marco Di Leo will represent Canada in World Finals
ST-ROCH DE L'ACHIGAN, QC Cameron Motorsports Rotax Max Senior driver Marco Di Leo will represent Canada at the upcoming Rotax Max World Finals, which are held in late November in Langkawi, Malaysia. For Di Leo, it will be his second trip to the World Finals, after competing in the 2004 World Finals in Lanzarote, Canary Islands.
Di Leo finished second in the Rotax Max Senior race at the ASN Canada FIA National Karting Championships, and with the second place, an invitation to the World Finals came with it.
"I must thank the entire Cameron Motorsports team," Di Leo said. "Racing here at a National Championship race, and coming away with this result is great for the whole Cameron Motorsports team. I am really happy to be going back to the World Finals as a Cameron Motorsports driver."
Di Leo had to work for his second place. He was involved in a race long battle with another driver, and in the final laps, even he didn't know what the outcome would be. "I just tried to stay ahead," Di Leo said. "The CRG got better as the race went on, so I could move up, but this is the toughest race in Canada, so to leave here with a second, and a trip to the World Finals is fantastic."
In fact, Cameron Motorsports may well be sending two drivers to the World Finals, as Cameron Motorsports driver Maxime Pelletier was second in the Rotax Max Jr. National Championship race. Each of the five years the World Finals have been held, Canada has been able to send two junior drivers, this year however the invitation is only open to one driver.
"Every year Canada has sent two drivers, and I am really hoping this is the case this year," said Pelletier. "I think we could have challenged for the win, but by the time I got to the front the leader had a big lead, and I couldn't catch him. For now, I just will have to wait by the phone and hope."
Bob Cameron, owner of Cameron Motorsports was happy with the performance of both Di Leo and Pelletier. "It would be great to send two drivers," Cameron said. "It shows just how good our team is. Not only do you have to be good, but you have to be good on a given day to win a trip to the World Finals. I know Marco will represent Canada and Cameron Motorsports well, and I hope he is joined by Maxime."
