BURKETT RACING SKUSA SUPERNATIONALS PREVIEW
Western Canadian-based team heading to SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas
Winnipeg, Manitoba - Burkett Racing Enterprises (BRE), in partnership with GBR Karting Inc., will be heading to the 2010 edition of SuperKarts! USA SuperNationals with three talented young drivers. The joint venture will enter drivers in three classes running under the GBR banner - Daniel Burkett, Zachary Scalzo and Jeff Fulham. This partnership has a proven track record with team spirit and driver development at the core of its success. Overseeing the trackside program is Kevin Glover of GBR who will provide his expertise in driver coaching and chassis tuning. Chris Glover, the 2009 Western Canadian Challenge Rotax Senior Max Champion, will provide engine tuning support for all the team's drivers. GBR's solid track support program was instrumental in Garett Grist's success in 2010. Grist, the 2009 Canadian National Champion, relied on GBR's support to achieve his goal of winning the 2010 Western Canadian Challenge Rotax Junior Max Championship.
"We have a real solid program going into the SuperNats and I'm very excited about being at the event," comments GBR's Kevin Glover. "This is just the coolest race going and you really want to be part of it. We have brought a really solid support program and that will help all of our drivers."
Daniel Burkett of BRE, running in TaG Senior, will lead the team as he looks to put an exclamation mark on his 2010 race season. He started year as a Junior with a successful campaign in the Challenge of America Gatorz series, finishing that series as the top Canadian in Rotax Junior. Only 15 years old, Daniel made the switch to Senior in the Western Canadian Challenge (WCC). This WCC standout had an impressive opening season and will take on a strong field of TaG Senior drivers at his first trip to the SuperNats. Burkett will run Parilla Leopard power on his Arrow chassis with long-time tuner Ray Arsenault turning the wrenches.
"Daniel did really well for his first year in senior," smiles GBR owner Kevin Glover. "He stayed right in the action and never got himself in trouble. I think the senior guys really respected him for that."
In TaG Jr. will be Montreal, Quebec driver Zachary Scalzo supported by mechanic Vince Arsenault. Scalzo ran a solid Coupe de Montreal and Canadian Nationals with GBR and looks to end off the year with a good run at the Rio in his first trip to Sin City.
Rounding out the program will be Jeff Fulham who heads to the big show off an impressive first year of karting. In this, his first trip to Las Vegas, the 10-year old driver will run the fast and exciting Vortex TaG Cadet class, utilizing the Mini-Rok engine for the first time. Turning the wrenches for Fulham will be Kyle Georgeson.
