Path Valley Bug Day Practice Continues March 20
Spring Run, PA_ Bug Day practice continues Saturday, March 20, at the Path Valley Speedway Park for all the strictly stocks and the Burris karts and four-wheelers, with gates open at noon.
The karts and quads race every Saturday afternoon and the strictly stocks that were formerly called junkyard or guardrail cars race every other Saturday night. On alternate weeks the AMA motorcycles and four-wheelers race Saturday nights.
Practice for the Friday night sprints and stock cars was completed Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14, on the Path Valley clay oval. Many new cars were present to 'work out the bugs' and no crashes or accidents marred the sessions.
"All of the teams seemed to get better and the cars definitely got faster after each series of adjustments," observed head flagman Steve Murphy. "The hot laps we saw in practice so far promise a lot of exciting racing when the season opens March 26."
The first points race of the season for the V-8 Street Stocks, Legends Cars and the four weekly classes of 270 Sprints, 600 Sprints, Mini Stocks and 4-Cylinder Thunder Cars is Friday night, March 26, with gates open at 5 p.m. The PA 305 Sprints and Dwarf Cars will alternate with the Legends and V-8 Street Stocks and their first race is April 2.
Four-cylinder thunder cars that have not yet passed tech inspection and received engine seals need to schedule an appointment before their first race with senior race director John Winsett.
The first Saturday afternoon race for the karts and four-wheelers is March 27 with gates open at 10 a.m. and that evening Path Valley welcomes back the four-cylinder, six-cylinder and V-8 Strictly Stocks along with the Cyclones with gates open at 5 p.m. for their first race.
The Saturday Strictly Stocks alternate with the AMA motorcycles and quads, and the season's first race for the bikes and four-wheelers is April 3, following the regular race for karts and quads.
