Double win for Parrott in Dorset

Jason had his best weekend yet of 2005 with two wins, putting him in the lead of the British Kart Championship by 17 points at the halfway stage of the year. This weekend's race was at the Clay Pigeon Raceway near Yeovil in Dorset.

Jason's qualifying and heat races were consistent, but he really came into his own in the finals where he was lapping as fast as he was in qualifying but on older tyres. In the first race, he started fourth on the grid but dived into second at the start. The then championship leader Gary Catt (Andover) took the lead, and Jason could match his speed but not beat it. Four laps from the end Catt's engine blew, leaving the victory to Jason.

Jason started from pole in the second race but on cold tyres at the start he was headed for a few laps by Tiffany Chittenden from Chislehurst. Further into the race his kart was better suited to the conditions and he overtook Chittenden on a fast left hand bend. Jason led for the rest of the race and posted the fastest lap.

"I don't think I had as much straight line speed as my rivals," said the Crowland driver, "but my kart and engine were definitely more raceable."

Next race is the first round of the European Championships on 15th May at Angerville in France.
