Lindbom leads the way at Oran Park
9 August, 2003 - In the opening day of the Super Cheap Auto Junior Blitz Series fourth round it was Sydney driver Kristian Lindbom who set the pace in the elite ARC Race Engines Junior Sportsman class.
Lindbom claimed the victory in two of the three heat races and crossed the line second in the other but was later dropped five places by the officials. Despite this penalty he still earned pole position for the 12-lap Pre-Final.
Entering turn one Lindbom went side by side with Jayair Castrol pilot James Love unfortunately for Love he was forced down the order to fifth. This allowed Jake Williams into second closely followed by Pro Karting's Jordie Lindstrom.
By mid race Lindstrom found his way into second but Lindbom had already opened a race winning lead and held on for the victory. Lindstrom claimed second ahead Williams followed by Trent James and Love rounded out the top 5.
Some casualties of the day were Paul Laskazeski and Ben Small. Laskazeski's two non finishes all but cancelled his heat victory and Ben Small who endured a broken chain in the opening heat and was involved in an incident with Corey Lean and Laskazeski which resulted in Laskazeski and Small watching from the sidelines in the Pre-Final.
In Junior National Light Daniel Reynolds had a held of challenges from Richard Rapa and James Reid to claim the victory in two of the three heat races and Pre-Final. Series leader Brent Reading suffered an engine drama before the start of the Pre-Final and he was unable to start the event.
Lean was again in the thick of the action in Junior National Heavy battling with Leon Mramor, Logan Green, last round victor Craig Schmidt and Luke Oxford.
In the Comer Midgets class it was once again James Kovacic who the field was trying to chase down with the Credex driver remaining undefeated throughout the day. Ben Lincoln recovered from an opening heat DNF to finish second in the Pre-Final ahead of Max Johnston.
Brock Hallett was unstoppable in Sniper Rookies to win all three heat races and the Pre-Final. After not finishing the opening heat Aaron Borg crossed the line second in the remaining events. Geoff Connell, Max Carter and Kyle Ensbey closely fought for the remaining spots inside the top five.
The Finals for the fourth round of the Super Cheap Auto Junior Blitz Series will be held tomorrow from 11:05am.
The Oran Park Circuit is located on the Great Northern Road approximately 5 kilometres West of Narellan and just under an hour's drive from the centre of Sydney.
