Love and Lindstrom share opening day honours

20 September, 2003 - James Love and Jordie Lindstrom shared the opening day honours in the final round of the Super Cheap Auto Junior Blitz Series at South Australia's Bolivar Raceway today.

With the pair engaged in a titanic battle with New South Wales driver Kristian Lindbom for the Junior Sportsman crown the scene is set for a scintillating final round.

In the opening race Lindstrom led the entire distance to take the win despite being hounded by Trent James all race long. Lindbom drove a hard charging race to finish third after starting from near the back of the field. Behind the leading trio local drivers, Nick Percat and Mason Merritt had a race long battle for the fourth and fifth positions.

Love was forced out of the event mid race when he was involved in an incident with Shannon Butler, Nicholas Holmes-Karavas and Christopher Gorton.

In the second race Love mad amends for his opening heat misdemeanour to take the win ahead of Lindbom. James benefited from a coming together between Merritt and Percat to finish third.

ARC Junior National Light action was marred by a rollover that left Rowan Booth with a bruised ankle and Matthew Panella with a broken arm. With the second heat declared at that point Jason Taylor took the win ahead of Andrew Cash. The first heat was won by Nick Pavan.

Mark Dorbolo and Paul Pittam shared the honours in ARC Junior National Heavy with the pair taking a first and second place each throughout the day.

Despite being pushed all the way by Scott Kissock it was Leigh Nicoloau who took out both Sniper Rookies events. Scott Boorman finished third on both occasions.

In the Midgets class Championship leader, James Kovacic made a last lap pass for the victory in heat one while Ben Lincoln snared the second.

The racing continues tomorrow with the third heat for Junior Sportsman beginning at 9:40am.

Bolivar Raceway is located on Summer Road, BOLIVAR (just off Port Wakefield Road) and is approximately 20 minutes north of Adelaide.
