CROWN ROYAL IROC SERIES PIT NOTES
Kinser and Pruett Practice Quotes
FT. WORTH, Texas (April 13, 2005) -- 19-time World of Outlaws champion, Steve Kinser and 2004 Grand American Road Racing champion, Scott Pruett put in initial practice laps at Texas Motor Speedway in preparation for round two, of the four race, $1-million Crown Royal International Race of Champions Series.
"King" Kinser who finished eighth in the inaugural Crown Royal IROC race at Texas Motor Speedway last year is feeling optimistic about his front row start this year.
Kinser said, "Just coming off that last practice session I feel the best I've ever felt in the IROC cars here. The car was solid underneath me with the sun shining. Things could change a bit under cooler conditions, but man starting from the front row on Friday, I hope I can keep doing this good all weekend."
Pruett, who has NASCAR Nextel Cup Series experience at Texas, took his first laps in the Crown Royal IROC cars.
"I actually did quite well here in the Cup car. I was leading the race and feeling good before becoming the victim of an incident, but I'm just a bit rusty right now. I have to get re- acclimated to the stock car feel, there's a lot of movement in the IROC cars that you don't have in the Grand American cars. The cars feel good, I'm just a little rusty around the edges. Jay Sauter and all the guys are real good about working with us on the race track to get us up to speed. I'm pretty comfortable now and we'll just keep fine tuning."
A final practice will take place on Thursday from 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Race two of the Crown Royal IROC Series will take place Friday, April 15 and broadcast on SPEED Channel at 8:00 p.m., ET.
