Juncos Racing has annlounced that “Mazda Road to Indy” graduates, Spencer Pigot and Kyle Kaiser, will return to the team to compete in the 2015 Indy Lights Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, racing the new Dallara IL-15 (in photo above).

The American duo competed with Juncos Racing last season recording multiple wins, poles, and podium finishes, and claimed the 2014 Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires.

The 2014 Pro Mazda Champion, Spencer Pigot, 21, has reached the final step in the “Mazda Road to Indy” ladder system with Juncos Racing advancing to the 2015 Indy Lights series. The Orlando, Florida native proved to be a stand out driver in the Pro Mazda series, capturing eight wins and nine poles to secure the Pro Mazda Championship in addition to winning the 2014 Cooper Tires Winterfest Championship. The 2015 season will mark Pigot’s third year as a Mazda scholarship driver.

“I’m very happy to rejoin Juncos Racing for the 2015 season,” said Pigot. “We worked really well together last year and were able to achieve a lot of success so I hope we can build on that in 2015. It’s a very exciting time to be moving up to Indy Lights with the new car. It looks great and I can’t wait to drive it. It will be my third season as a Mazda scholarship driver and I can’t thank everyone at Mazda enough for this opportunity along with my other supporters. The first test is coming up soon so we’ll be working hard in the shop to make sure we hit the ground running.”

Kaiser ready for next step

Completing the lineup for Juncos Racing, Kyle Kaiser, 18, is ready to take the next step in his career and move behind the wheel of the new Dallara IL-15. Kaiser proved to be one of the top drivers in the 2014 Pro Mazda Championship by recording multiple podiums and one win, which propelled Juncos Racing to win the championship. The Santa Clara, California native looks to continue the momentum built last season into the 2015 Indy Lights series.

“I am thrilled to be moving up to Indy Lights and be among the first Mazda Road to Indy drivers to test and race the new Dallara IL-15,” said Kaiser. “This is a unique opportunity to be learning all the nuances of the new car at the same time as the other teams, which will be a true test of our feedback and setup skills. Juncos is like a second home, so it’s fantastic that we were able to keep the same synergy within the team for the Indy Lights series.

"Over the past year, I have benefited greatly from the driver development tools implemented at Juncos, and I’m confident it has prepared me for the next step in my driving career. The collaboration, work ethic, and passion within Juncos Racing produces the ideal environment for success and I am anxious to continue the momentum from last season and be one step closer to my goal of racing in the Verizon IndyCar series.”

Climbing Mazda's ladder

The excitement building with the Dallara IL-15 has Juncos Racing Team Owner, Ricardo Juncos, thrilled to return to the series. Running in two of the three steps of the “Mazda Road to Indy” ladder system will allow the team to build the drivers further into their careers through the Juncos’ Driver Development program. Juncos looks to carry the team’s recent success into next season.

“Today’s announcement demonstrates the strength and momentum that our team has built over the last few years,” said Juncos. “Kyle (Kaiser) and Spencer (Pigot) experienced great success through the Juncos’ Driver Development Program. Their decision to return to Juncos for the next season reflects their continued confidence in the program and the growth of our team.

"With the new IL-15 equalizing the field, we expect a successful entry into Indy Lights for our inaugural season. Juncos has put together a powerful technical and mechanical team, and we look forward to pushing our drivers and the Juncos Racing team into the next level in the upcoming season.”
