(Portland, Or) -- PacWest drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Renna have qualified in the provisional top 10 for the fourth round of the Dayton Indy Lights Series in Portland Oregon.

Both drivers were frustrated with handling problems during the 30-minute qualifying session and some major changes are expected overnight. Dixon was seventh fastest in the #17 Invensys/Powerware PacWest Lights entry with a time of 1:06.251 while Renna was ninth in his Motorola PacWest Lights machine with a lap of 1:06.660.

Dixon, a 19 year-old from New Zealand, is hoping to lengthen his lead in the championship after winning the opening two rounds in Long Beach and Milwaukee and a fourth in Detroit last weekend. Renna has been plagued with bad luck in the opening three rounds and is hoping to improve his qualifying position tomorrow in an effort to get to the front early in Sunday's race.

SCOTT DIXON -- #17 INVENSYS/POWERWARE PACWEST LIGHTS -- 7th

"We struggled early in the session while running an old set of tires and that effected the set-up of the car," said Dixon.

"We had lowered the rear, but we still had oversteer problems and we were pretty much chasing the track and the tires at the same time. We went to stickers (new tires) and then we had too much understeer -- it was all very confusing and frustrating.

"We will look at everything overnight, but we may have to go back to a baseline in an effort to learn something in the first session tomorrow."

TONY RENNA -- # 18 MOTOROLA PACWEST LIGHTS -- 9th

"At the start of the session we were able to power down and the car was pretty decent," said Renna.

"As the session continued the car got worse and the balance was very inconsistent

"The car would go from having too much push to too loose and we could not carry any speed into the corners. We were able to hang it out through the right hander at turn six, but we are also battling understeer. At the end of the session I got loose at the exit of turn four and went off the course -- there was no contact. We will assess things overnight and have another go tomorrow."

* The fourth round of the Dayton Indy Lights Championship will be aired on * ESPN2 on Saturday July 1 at 5.30pm.
