Doricott Racing announced that Jon Fogarty, the Barber Dodge Pro Series runner-up in 2000, will join former Pro Series winner Townsend Bell as part of their three-man team to contest the Dayton Indy Lights campaign in 2001. Bell won two Lights races in his inaugural season as well as Rookie of the Year honors.

Fogarty was one of two candidates that emerged from the six contenders that had tried out with Dorricott earlier in the month and will join a team that swept the top three spots in the Lights championship in 1999 and finished second and third in 2000. The 25-year-old will make the move up to Lights after three seasons in the Barber Dodge Pro Series during which he earned four victories – three coming this past season. He led the season championship for much of the latter half of the season before giving way to eventual champion Nilton Rossoni in the season finale.

"This is a definite career move in the right direction," said Fogarty. "I'm almost at a loss for words to describe how happy I am. This is a highly organized, well-managed, and successful team. It's also great to return to a complete team-oriented atmosphere. Racing in Barber Dodge prepared me to make this move and the level of talent and competition inherent to Indy Lights. The across-the-board competition and the showcase offered by Indy Lights makes it the step you have to reach if you want to race at the highest levels of motorsport."

The team will start testing soon in preparation for the 2001 season, which begins in Fundidora Park in Monterrey, Mexico on March 11.
