Pole Position and a great drive ends against the wall.

Australian Motorsport Foundation International Rising Star James Davison, captured his first career Firestone Indy Lights pole position at the Sunbelt Rentals 100 held at the Nashville Superspeedway.

Davison who struggled in 18th position at the end of practice, made a superb come back to qualify on pole and join his teammate Ana Beatriz making it an all Sam Schmidt Motorsports front row.

The race which was delayed two hours due to rain, saw Davison pull away to a two second advantage until the first caution on lap 11. At the restart Davison again pulled away to a strong advantage over the field. As the race approached half distance, Davison struggled with a loose race car and was caught by Beatriz on lap 33, but held on to a strong second position. On lap 44 as he proceeded to lap Richard Antinucci, Robbie Pecorari and A1GP Star Jonny Reid, he was squeezed into the wall by Reid and into instant retirement.

Davison said "I drove a fantastic race but I could not hold off Ana as I was fighting a loose race car. My priority was to achieve a strong podium finish. Coming up to lap Jonny Reid, his spotter failed to inform him of my track position and I was squeezed against the wall. I have competed against some of the best talent from Europe, started from pole and led the race. My team and the Australian Motorsport Foundation deserved this result so I very much look forward to Mid Ohio."'
