Team KOOL Green Indy Lights driver Naoki Hattori was working his way through the 24-car field when he was the victim of a five-car incident which ended his day at the Miami-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex. Hattori started from the 10th position in the grid and was keeping pace for the first half of the 67-lap race. Pole-winner Sergio Paese of Brazil spun into the wall on lap 28 to bring out the second caution of the race. Following the yellow, Hattori bolted up two positions on the re-start to move into eighth place on lap 32. He was working the 35th lap when the accident happened. Shigeaki Hattori (no relation to Naoki) went on to capture the checkered flag followed by Cristiano da Matta and Guy Smith. "I had to react quickly (to the incident) and in doing so, I lost control," said Hattori. "I'm very disappointed. The car was very good. I had just moved up two places on the restart (from 10th to 8th) and then the accident happened. "At the beginning of the race we had some oversteer, but the balance was coming back." The next stop for the PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Championship is the Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday, April 5th.
