FAIRFIELD, N.J. (June 26, 2000) - U.S. F2000 National Championship alumnus, Jason Bright won his first career Dayton Indy Lights Race at Portland International Raceway this weekend.

Bright, the 1996 U.S. F2000 runner-up, captured the win after taking the lead on the first lap and never relinquished it en route to the checkered flag.

The Australian, who won twice in U.S. F2000, has returned to North America to race open-wheel cars after racing sedans in his homeland the past three years. During his time in F2000, Bright was considered one of the up-and-coming stars in racing, capturing two poles and six top-three finishes.

Bright will take his rookie points lead, second overall, into Round Five at Michigan International Speedway on July 22.

The U.S. F2000 National Championship Presented by Speedvision continues its 2000 season, July 8-9 at Road America with Rounds Five and Six.
