Australian Motorsport Foundation International Rising Star, James Davison qualified on the second row and recorded a season best finish at Round 6 of the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights Championship staged at the Milwaukee Mile. After not having tested at the demanding Milwaukee Mile, Davison improved from last position in the first practice session, to 5th in the second and 4th in qualifying to take the outside of row two. A significant achievement.

At the start of the race the field held position until the first full course caution. At the restart Davison passed last week's Indy 500 competitor Jeff Simmons for 3rd and then proceeded to apply pressure on pole-sitter Pablo Donoso until an incident brought out the second caution. Davison was forced to slow behind the two leaders on the restart and was passed by Simmons and Rafael Matos. As the race continued Davison passed Donoso for 4th then proceeded to apply pressure to Matos. Throughout the majority of the 100 laps Davison and Matos were evenly matched maintaining 3rd and 4th position until lapped traffic was encounted. With 5 laps remaining Davison was baulked by a number of back-markers and was jumped by Andrew Prendeville and his teammate JR Hildebrandt, eventually finishing in 6th.

Davison said "I am happy with my performance this weekend. I improved from dead last in the first practice session to qualify on the second row. I tried a little too hard in qualifying and cost myself a front row starting position however I competed for a podium finish for 95 of the 100 laps. The Milwaukee Mile is the toughest oval I have driven, this track is renowned for the difficulties in passing lapped traffic and unfortunately I was caught out. It was very important for me to get a solid result this weekend and as a team we will be even stronger at Iowa."
