Qualifying

Airton Dare, #1 Banestado Lola - Qualified 14th:

"I was flat out all the way around. I think maybe we had too much drag. We lost so much track time with engine trouble that we haven't had a chance to trim it out. The only big change we made was the engine last night because of an oil leak."

Guy Smith, #6 Swift Caravans Lola - Qualified 9th:

"I have never seen anything so strange. We made so many changes and we still did the same lap time -- 39.9. The car was good and I was trying to keep it smooth. I tried different lines, but nothing made a difference. We've been stuck on 39.9 all weekend. My engineer, Eric Cowdin, who has won two Indy Lights championships said this was the most changes he has ever done to a car and we are still at 39.9."

1. Jonny Kane 39.486 = 182.343 mph 2. Philipp Peter 39.501 = 182.274 mph 3. Oriol Servia 39.751 = 181.128 mph 4. Didier Andre 39.760 = 181.087 mph 5. Scott Dixon 39.768 = 181.050 mph 6. Geoff Boss 39.770 = 181.041 mph 7. David Pook 39.895 = 180.474 mph 8. Rodolfo Lavin 39.899 = 180.456 mph 9. Guy Smith 39.917 = 180.374 mph 10. Casey Mears 39.982 = 180.081 mph
