SPARTA, Kentucky - (August 1, 2009) -- Firestone Indy Lights driver Martin Plowman led the team's efforts earlier in the day with a ninth-place finish during the 67-lap Kentucky 100. Plowman's teammate, Pippa Mann, fell multiple laps down after spinning on the parade lap and despite a fast car, was unable to make up any positions and was forced into a 15-place finish.

Plowman set the fastest lap of the race on the 11th circuit of the event with an average speed of 192.154 mph.

Martin Plowman, No. 15 Firestone Indy Lights

"To start the race by points was a bit challenging, but we had a good start and picked a bunch of spots. The balance on my car was pretty good, I only think that we lacked a bit of speed on the straights. I got stuck behind Romancini for a while and when I finally got around him the group in front had pulled away. Although we were running the same lap times that the leaders, I just couldn't close the gap. The yellow came out too late and the field never got back together."

Pippa Mann, No. 16 Firestone Indy Lights

"The car got away from me while I was trying to get some heat in my tires and I had to come in for a fresh set of Firestones. I returned to the track and was able to post some competitive lap times, so it's unfortunate that we had to pit in the beginning of the race."
