SPARTA, Kentucky (August 1, 2009) - AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing drivers J.R. Hildebrand and Sebastian Saavedra finished 17th and second, respectively, in Saturday's running of the Kentucky 100 Firestone Indy Lights race at the Kentucky Speedway. Hildebrand started today's race from the pole position and Saavedra started second.
The next Firestone Indy Lights race is the Mid-Ohio 100, August 9th at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
J.R. Hildebrand, #26 AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing Dallara/Firestone:
"It was a frustrating way to end the weekend. We spent most of the weekend waiting on track conditions after the rain; it was great to finally get on track but unfortunate to not be able to finish the race. I had a good test here a while back and our car was really good this afternoon in practice. I think Sebastian (Saavedra) and I could've worked together and had a one-two finish. I think our cars would have been really strong on track together. We still don't know what happened with the #26 car. It could be a number of things so we are in the process of figuring that out. In the grand scheme of things, we are still leading in points. Hopefully we will come back strong next weekend and be able to gain a bigger lead.
Sebastian Saavedra, #27 AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing Dallara/Firestone:
"I'm very happy. We scored some very important points today. The car was great. The whole AGR/AFS Racing team did an incredible job. We were just doing as planned, trying to be side-by-side with Wade (Cunningham) at the start-finish, but that yellow flag just made everything impossible. We're still second in the points for the championship and I'm looking forward to next weekend's race in Mid-Ohio."
