Mutoh Sixth in Second Race of Corning Twin 100s

Super Aguri Panther Racing driver Hideki Mutoh finished sixth Sunday in the Indy Pro Series' second race of the Corning Twin 100s, his ninth Top Ten finish in 10 starts this season.

Mutoh finished second in the first IPS race of the weekend on Saturday, which relegated him to a fifth-place starting position today after the top six finishers from the first race were inverted. Mutoh was poised to collect another podium before drivers tangled in the first turn of the race, forcing Mutoh to get off the gas and fall all the way back to tenth position.

Panther's young driver kept his poise and was able to climb back to seventh position by the second lap, but was unable to climb back to the top three spots. Mutoh collected one more position on the final lap of the race for his sixth place finish. With his result, Mutoh remains in second position in the Indy Pro Series points standings, and trails race winner Alex Lloyd by 138 points.

Hideki Mutoh:

"I'm very disappointed in the result and especially the mistake I made at the start. I was planning to make pass in turn one, after the start, but I was being too conservative and lost positions. I did what I could to fight back but I couldn't get back to the front. I made one move on the last lap but I wanted to get a win for the Panther guys."
