Lloyd to compete in 2007 Indy Pro Series with Schmidt Motorsports
Clerical Medical and Manx Sports Aid Foundation backed 21Year Old Alex Lloyd has announced today that he has signed to drive with championship winning team Sam Schmidt Motorsports in the 2007 Indy Pro Series.
"I am thrilled to join Sam Schmidt Motorsport," said Lloyd. "The team has won 2 of the past 3 driver championships in the Indy Pro Series and is the most successful team in the series history. For me to be a part of this organization is fantastic and a great opportunity. Everyone within the team is very professional and easy to get on with so I am sure we are going to have a lot of fun and a lot of success."
"Obviously we are extremely pleased to announce that Alex will be competing with our team for the full season," Schmidt said. "Observing him throughout 2006, I know that he has the talent to compete for wins and the championship. He is also a quality individual and I know our team will enjoy working with him next year."
"Our expectations for the year are simply to win the championship," said Alex. "Last year I was able to win 2 races in the 9 that I competed in the IPS, and this season I will be in the championship winning car. All the elements are in place for a very successful year and I can't wait to begin work for the upcoming season."
The Indy Pro Series competes in 16 races at America's premier oval and road course circuits, including 3 events at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Powered by a 450 horsepower engine with a six speed sequential gearbox, the Dallara built chassis can average speeds in excess of 190 MPH on a 1.5-mile super speedway. The Indy Pro Series season starts March 24, 2007 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
