BUSSELL QUALIFIES FOR HIS FIRST RACE AT THE INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Menards Infiniti Pro Series rookie Nick Bussell will start the Futaba Freedom 100 from the outside of row 4 tomorrow in his first start at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Piloting the #21 Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone, Bussell qualified 8th with a two-lap average of 185.981 mph.

The race, scheduled in conjunction with Carburetion Day, May 27th, will be televised on ESPN2 at 1:30pm EDT.

While the JL West Motorsports entry is solidly in the starting lineup for tomorrow's race, Bussell is not where he wanted to be. Based on an oval test earlier this month, the team was confident they had the speed needed to make a run for the pole position.

"I'm really disappointed with what we ended up with", says Bussell. "We just couldn't find the speed we needed to be up front. We came in with a flat rear tire at the end of the first practice session and thought that we could make a few changes and be back out there with a competitive speed. In the end, that just didn't happen".

Despite his disappointment, Nick remains enthusiastic about Friday's race. "The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is amazing. I've been watching the Indy 500 every Memorial Day for as long as I can remember. I am honored to be here, and I hope I can make my first outing here a memorable one" he says.

A Michigan native, Bussell has an open-wheel, road racing background, with a season in the Formula Renault 2000 and Fran-Am 2000 after winning the World Karting Association Triple Crown in 2002.
