MENARDS INFINITI PRO SERIES RETURNING TO IMS TWICE AGAIN IN 2006
INDIANAPOLIS, Friday, Sept. 23, 2005 -- The Menards Infiniti Pro Series will race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval and road course in 2006, the second consecutive year that the Indy Racing League's top ladder series will visit IMS for two events.
The fourth annual Freedom 100 will take place on Miller Lite Carb Day, Friday, May 26 on the 2.5-mile oval at IMS, two days before the 90th Indianapolis 500.
Drivers and teams from the Menards Infiniti Pro Series will return to the Speedway five weeks later for the Liberty Challenge on the 2.605-mile road course during the United States Grand Prix weekend. The USGP is scheduled for Sunday, July 2, with the date for the Liberty Challenge during that weekend to be announced later.
"The Menards Infiniti Pro Series continues to evolve as the perfect stepping stone into the IRL IndyCar Series," said Roger Bailey, executive director of the Menards Infiniti Pro Series. "The icing on the cake continues to be the fact that the Menards Infiniti Pro Series is the only racing series in the world to race twice at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the same year."
The presence of one oval and one road course event at IMS mirrors the balance of the 2006 schedule, which features six ovals and six road courses. The Freedom 100 is the fourth event on the schedule, while the Liberty Challenge is the sixth.
