The following is a recap of Thursday's activities.
The Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires ends its 2014 season at Sonoma Raceway and the three-way title fight between Gabby Chaves, Zach Veach and Jack Harvey will be hard-fought this weekend.
In the first practice session on Thursday, Luiz Razia came up first quickest with a lap of 1:29.3773 over Harvey’s fastest lap of 1:29.3976. Chaves was third fastest with a lap of 1:29.5049 while Veach was fourth with a lap of 1:29.5278. Veach’s teammate, Matthew Brabham, was fifth fastest in the first session.
The second session was held later in the afternoon after the second sessions were held for the other Mazda Road to Indy practices were held and the rubber from the earlier sessions must have helped the grip levels on the cars.
The fastest lap in the second session was a 1:28.7137 posted by Chaves. Second fastest with a lap of 1:28.7710 was Razia while Harvey was third with a 1:29.0553. Brabham was fifth but Veach was a mystifying tenth (and last) fastest in the session with a 1:29.7991 fastest lap.
The first Indy Lights race will be Saturday at 12:15 in the afternoon local time and will be forty minutes.
